Featured a few years ago in SE95, as well as back in SE34 when we went on a 2004 Rip Curl Search trip there with Tom Curren and Brian Toth, Russia’s eastern wilderness sits just across the top of the Pacific from Alaska and gets plenty of Aleutian swell. The only trouble being, it’s really far away (10 hour flight from Moscow), really, really expensive, there are no real roads to the coast (need a heli), lots of massive bears, active volcanoes and lots of off-limits military zones. But there is also pumping surf, no fucker anywhere near the lineup and all sorts of last-frontier type wild shit to get into…
