An SUP caught in the lip and on a collision course with your cranium doesn’t top the list of things you want to see as you career towards the exit of the wave of the day at Teahupoo — which, predictably enough, having been very good before the waiting period and distinctly average during it, returned to form a few days after the Tahiti Pro was wrapped up, in keeping with the predominant pattern so far this year. Fortunately, by a whisker or two, in this instance the collision did not materialise, although the subsequent expression on Jack Robinson’s face gives you a further idea of just how close a call it was. Words were had, one imagines.
