Well Damien Hobgood was crowned 2007 Teahupoo king a few hours ago…Im back in Oz ( thinking of the great times I had in Tahiti over the last few weeks) and a solid south Pac. swell is about to start smashing the reef passes a few thousand miles away in the little village at the end of the road.

Although the waves this year didnt bear the teeth of the Teahupoo kind the public loves the surfing was still amazing. Along with Pipe Chopes has become the gladiator pit of our sport and the public loves to see some blood spilt on the infamous reef. How many of you saw the shots of Bruces wipeout two weeks ago on the big day or one of the trialists going over the falls on a bomb set? So I thought it was good to see the guys really pushing the limits today in the barrel, literally bulldogging their way over foamballs and through sections… what about Mick’s ten? Mick just looks so focused and has really put his arm up as the guy saying I want it badly this year. You can see it in his pre heat focus, his glare and the way he has been ruthlessly strangling the life out of his opponents with clinical displays. Its motivating stuff and I’m looking forward to coming up against him. That’s what this tour’s about! Coming up against the best guys at the best spots on earth. Bring it on!
