Last week the New York City subway system was shut down for the first time in its 110-year history, meaning that on Monday and to a lesser extent Tuesday the city was effectively closed for business. Blizzard Juno was not in the end as severe as had been expected, but conditions were still distinctly hostile for the small crew of surfers who braved the snowstorms and headed to Montauk, NY — where it would seem the swell forecast at any rate delivered on its promise.
