Round 2 was generally speaking an underwhelming affair. Kelly Slater was outstanding in the first heat of the round, but other than him only Jadson Andre managed to record a double-figure heat total, largely thanks to this wave. Jaddy Baby, as commentator Strider Wasilewski has taken to calling him, somehow managed to bust his way through a series of foamballs and pop out the end of a barrel that seemed to have shut down completely. Nobody expected him to emerge, and the resultant 9.37 didn’t really do it justice.
