The waiting period for the WQS 5-star Volcom Pipe event starts in two days and with a relatively slow start to the season this year (with only 3 good swells in the last 2 months), you can bet competitors are all real hungry for swell conditions to come together again like it did last year.

Importantly, the WQS 5-star also serves as the qualifying round to determine local seeds for the Pipeline Masters. The top eight Hawaiian competitors in the Volcom Pipe Pro get to take part in the year end Billabong Pipe event. So, besides being at Pipe, there’s always a rad talent pool to watch out for.
