After a lay day yesterday, it looks like the Volcom Pipe Pro could be out of the gates this evening (GMT) with the event’s forecaster Surfline predicting a large and consistent NW swell (315-335 deg) to build rapidly into the North Shore through the AM hours on Monday, peaking mid day through the afternoon with about 12-13’+ deepwater swell at 14-16 seconds. Eyes are also firmly fixed on another solid WNW low off the coast of Japan which should deliver further waves from the 31st onwards.

With nearly all the top Euros opting to bounce and head to Hawaii early (but now wishing they’d gone to Ireland with Nicolau instead), everyone will be craving for some proper Banzai action. Something that goes a little like Takayuki Wakita’s sunset tunnel early last week.
