Nixon is pleased to announce Manoa Drollet is the winner of the first stop of The Nixon WTA. Drollet’s wave was voted the heaviest wave surfed at the ASP’s Billabong Pro in Teahupoo, Tahiti.
The WTA event awarded Drollet a custom, one-of-a-kind Capital Automatic adorned with over a carat and a half of black diamonds. Recounting the wave that garnered him the title, Drollet commented, “The wave came and I was pretty deep. I took off late, kept my hand on the rail and tried to get as much speed as I could…the foam ball got me and pushed me on the face and I made it.”
The second stop of the WTA will be at The Billabong Pro at J-Bay in South Africa July 11-22, 2007 where the winner of the longest wave will be awarded the J-Bay WTA title. Further stops will be taking place at ASP World Tour stops during October and December, including the longest tube in Mundaka, Spain, and the overall Triple Crown Winner from the North Shore of Oahu.
