As you surf savvies well know, the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro has finished with Dusty Payne taking out Josh Kerr in the finals. However for the European contingent, it was a massive week with Aritz, Jonathan Gonsalves and Marc Lacomare all getting big results and giving them a great start for the 2013 qualifiication year. The ranking shown here, see Jonathan and Aritz as ranked third and fourth of the non World Tour surfers. Early days for sure, but a massive start to the season. Aritz tweeted, “Thanks so much for the support! So stoked with my 5th.”

Both surfers, Aritz (see clip below) especially were unlucky in the quarters, but showed that as soon as the waves get serious, they’ll be in the very heart of the mix come finals day.
