To accompany a full-length feature in the up-coming February issue of GQ Brazil, the fashion mag has released this behind-the-scenes photo shoot tease of Brazilian big wave anomaly Maya Gabeira. It’s not the first time the Brazilian athlete has flirted with the world of fashion. In 2012 Maya posed starkers for ESPN’s Body Issue. But her recent close-call at Nazaré with Carlos Burlé back in November (where she nearly drowned) has clearly sparked further mainstream interest in the 5-time Billabong XXL winner. Incidentally, Nazaré wasn’t the first time Maya’s stared death in the eyes, she was also knocked unconscious in Tahiti back in 2011.
