Snapper was kinda pants this year, wasn’t it? Swell never really showed up and when there were a few decent waves the new Zosea-run ASP (decidedly looking to make a statement) decided to send the girls out for the best of the waiting period window. To their credit, the likes of Carissa Moore and Steph Gilmore absolutely ripped it but still it’s not what most viewers showed up for. And then there was the relentless stream of Samsung ads, which admittedly might have been more bearable if the surf had gotten any bigger than 2-foot.

That said, it’s always entertaining to see just how rad (and hungry!) the world’s best continue to be even when the ocean doesn’t necessarily come together for the occasion. And here Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, Julian Wilson, Kolohe Andino, Mitch Crews, Dane Reynolds, Owen Wright, Adriano De Souza, Josh Kerr, Ace Buchan and Matt Banting do just that, tearing Snapper Rocks to pieces during some of the free surf sessions.
