Back in 2003, the Australian magazine Waves (RIP) surveyed 50 pro surfers and surf industry types, asking them to rank the funnest waves in the world. The Indonesian left-hander Macaronis, situated in the Mentawai Islands, topped the poll by a considerable margin, with 76% of respondents calling it their number one — which, given that it’s a left, and that most surfers, being regular, prefer rights, means it’s pretty fucken fun. So fun, in fact, that in our humble opinions its one of 10 Indo waves to surf before you die in order to have lived a truly happy and fulfilled life.
