Shot during the giant 2-day swell that saw Ian Walsh, Makua Rothman and Laird Hamilton initially tow-in for the first time in years, most of this Jaws footage is actually from the second “smaller” paddle day. Views pointed back towards the shoreline as crew stand on the rocks are rad, giving you a good idea of what it must feel like to paddle out there… Yikes!
While it’s still early days for drones (commercial use of drone film/photo footage is currently restricted and domestic guidelines no doubt under review), if you look back at the popularity POV cameras have enjoyed out in the line-ups in the space of 5 years it’d be naive to think they’ll do anything but snowball out of control. But when filmers get round to rolling POV, drone and traditional land shot perspectives all into one, one thing’s for sure, the result is bound to look cool as fuck.
