Big tings gwidarn in the world of the mid-length surf film. ‘Ábaco’, the product of “almost a year on the road, drinking wine, eating ham and scoring waves”, is a journey through time and space, helmed by filmmaker Kylian Castells and due for release this summer.
Where the Iliad could boast only one, ‘Ábaco’ stars two whole Hectors — Santamaria and Menéndez, fine warriors of shred both — as well as Dion Agius, Cornish rapscallion Seb Smart, Réunion dreamboat Adrien Toyon, Seb Raubenheimer, Dani Aznar and Maxime Bobet.
On the basis of that list of names and the 46 teasing seconds above it — that left-hander! those Hectors! — it promises to be sumptuous. It’s presented by Narval Wetsuits, and will be premiering around Europe in June and July.
