The Deutsch destroyer beat Tahitian charger Michel Bourez to win the trials of the Quik Pro on thursday. Marlon joins Aritz and Miky, as well as Bourez who will all surf in the next few heats in the Quik Pro.
We’re currently at the La Graviere site waiting for a bit of tide to come up in order for action to commence. Yesterday was macking out here, they held the Expression session nations cup thingy which was one by the Hawaiians. Freddy P got an absolute bomb left in the final, him and AI (who someone rumoured was a few glasses of wine to the good) took it from Aussies Bede Durbidge and Dingo Morrisson.
Friday’s action out here saw a few surprises. One of which was the decision to hold Cory Lopez’s heat again – after the judges missed his last ride, a WCT rarity. They didn’t hold Jeremy’s heat again after they missed his baz on the Golide did they?
Today it’s still a solid 5ft out there with some mental tubes, but a few too many closeouts for now. Next call is in an hour’s time.
Yesterday we went for a splash with Quik Portugeezer pros Jose Gregorio and Nicolau ‘stinky’ von Rupp at la Piste in Capbreton. Txomin spunked off a bit of video, but given the dark overcast conditions had trouble spotting the action – luckily he missed me getting pitched every wave. Time for another cup of Joe and then a visit to the eco dunnies. Ciao!
