Romain Cloitre lays down a mighty arc at le club, Anglet yesterday. In the background, the sinister form of a giant dredging ship sucks sand off the seabed outside the lineup of the Anglet beaches, much to the disdain of the locals. Since the dredging, reports are that the banks at Anglet have never been the same, the natural balance of beach nourishment being starved of the vital offshore deposits that go to build up the beach.
