Australia was first discovered in 1988 when Neighbours scored the 5pm slot on BBC1.

It then disappeared into obscurity for the rest of the world at large until the Inbetweeners 2 came out early in 2014, reminding us of not only its existence, but of its powerful lure, unique appeal and singular charm.

It also happens to have pretty damn good surf. A little bit everywhere, but mainly on the left hand side, the west of the island continent, the part they entitled, with typical creativity and imagination, ‘Western Australia’. Snappily shortened to ‘W.A.’
