2016 was a big year in the Wright family, to say the least.

With Owen suffering a brain injury late in 2015, the road to recovery would be long and arduous. Meanwhile, Tyler set out to win her maiden world title amongst the most progressive field of female surfers ever assembled.

Amongst the emotional tribulations Tyler faced, was getting past early-career burn out, a loss in the family, and Owen’s ongoing uncertain prognosis.
