Young Peruvian Miguel Tudela is shaping up to be quite the consummate all-rounder. The full package, perhaps. Maybe even the real McCoy. Talking points from this new edit, filmed over the last year in Peru, Portugal, Hawaii and Costa Rica, include the backside finner at 0:36 that somehow seems to occur in slow-motion, Miguel’s worryingly close proximity to the rocks between 1:08 and 1:18, and the two monster drops at 1:28 and 1:38.
The surfing’s excellent, but the music made me want to punch myself in the face repeatedly, and I didn’t want my mum to think I’d been fighting again so instead I muted it and opened up ‘Ne Me Quite Pas’ by Jacques Brel — ’cause that’s how I roll — in a new tab. Afterwards I lit a cigarette and stared out the window pensively for several minutes, observing the passers-by.
