Swell dropped off yesterday so contest organisers decided to run the rest of the Global VQS Champs, the title going to 18-year-old South African ripper Slade Prestwich.
The new swell is due as early as tomorrow (or tonight CET) and fingers crossed the top seeds will be there to meet it this time.
“While there are some good waves out there today, we’re expecting excellent conditions for the remainder of the waiting period and have decided to call competition off for today,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge said. “We’ll be back tomorrow morning at 6:30am to make a call for a restart to competition.”
Official forecaster Surfline call for a new SW swell will begin building in the late afternoon Wednesday, peaking Thursday with very solid surf. A decreasing trend takes over Friday, although surf remains solid, with decent size leftovers on Saturday. Medium size SW swells are on track for Sunday and again on Tue/Wed.
VQS runner-up Deivid Silva on one of the better ones to run through yesterday.
