Sandbars have settled at the famous break in Seignosse
With Les Bourdaines in Seignosse being selected as the official location for this years Swatch Girls Pro France, the ASP 6-Star Qualifying Series event will once again feature some of the world’s best women surfers and is scheduled for August 20-24.
“Choosing the surf location for this year’s contest has not been easy,” said Event Organizer Brodie Carr. “The storms of the last winter really chewed into the beach and it has taken a long time for the sand banks to settle. Les Bourdaines looks to be the most consistent and reliable, so we have selected this location for the 5th edition of the Swatch Girls Pro France.”
“I think it’s a great call,” said Justine Dupont, one of the local favorites competing. “What I love about the banks is that they offer real variety. There can be rip bowls, big outside peaks and fast shorebreaks, sometimes all in the one day!”
Dupont, who lives within walking distance of the break, has had the last month at home training in preparation for the Swatch Girls Pro France. “I have been surfing the banks at Les Bourdaines for the last few weeks and there’s been some fantastic waves,” said Dupont.
“We are looking good for some great conditions for when the world’s best women surfers come to town.” Other athletes to confirm their attendance include Courtney Conlogue (USA), Coco Ho (HAW), Laura Enever (AUS), Sage Erickson (USA), Nikki Van Dijk (AUS), Alessa Quizon (HAW) and Sofia Mulanovich (PER).
The summer vibes and good times however will not be restricted just to Les Bourdaines’ famous waves. The festival atmosphere is legendary and some of Europe’s best DJ’s are returning for the Swatch Sounds of Summer presented by Skullcandy. The all star line up includes Riton, Para One, DVNO, Victor Aime, Girls Girls Girls, Chole and Tim Boal from Standart. The fun starts on Friday, August 22 from 8:00 p.m. at Hossegor’s La Centrale.
