Surf Cinematographer Sonny Miller passes away aged 54

The worldwide surf community was saddened to find out that influential surf cinematographer Sonny Miller died of a heart attack this Tuesday aged 54 years old.

Initially starting out as a photographer in California, Sonny Miller became best known for his work in the 90s with Rip Curl and surfing great Tom Curren, capturing pivotal turning points in surfing history while producing the likes of Searching For Tom Curren, Feral Kingdom and The Search.

The Californian filmmaker later went on to focus on bigger Hollywood productions including Blue Crush, Riding Giants, In God’s Hands and others. For a taste of his earlier work, if you’re not already familiar with it, have a watch of the following.
