ROXY PRO BIARRITZ GOES ON HOLD

The Roxy Pro officially opened up its waiting period yesterday and, with a terrible forecast, there was a little hope they’d be able to bash out the contest in during the first day of competition. But it wasn’t to be.

“It was a tough day for everyone, swell forecast not looking that good and today being the strongest day forecasted,” said Dave Shipley, ASP head judge said.

Organizers finally called the contest off for the day at 3pm and although they’ll continue to monitor conditions through to Sunday 14th of July (French Bastille Day) contestable conditions are now looking very unlikely.

When asked to comment on the difficult situation, local spectators actually appeared most put out by the fact that Bastille Day falls on a Sunday this year, denying them an extra day off work. However, in an attempt to appease holidaying beach-goers, the Roxy Pro has put on offer a series of public and free activities at the event’s site at la Cote des Basques, such as yoga lessons held in a Roxy Outdoor Fitness space, stand up paddle sessions and beauty workshops like a nail bar and massages. What are you waiting for?!
