The ALAS Latin and Caribbean Tour 2007 first stage, the Reef Classic Latin Pro Argentina, is going to take place at the Parador Seis Brujas waves, Miramar, from January 11-14th. The best latin surfers will fight it out for 17.500 in cash prizes and 6.000 ratings points.
It will be the first stop of the new Latin and Caribbean Tour, offering a record amount of money. The tour will continue with stops in more than nine Latin and Caribbean countries.
Miramar local Agustín Bollini, who was ranked 16th in the 2005 Latin and Caribbean Tour, said: “It is a great beach to hold an ALAS. If a good swell is hitting and the wind blows from the north, the waves could be amazing. Is not a crowded spot, actually the people that go there do not know anything about surfing, so I think it is a good thing to do, promoting surfing there. I like to ride the left that breaks on the north side of the pier that has a rocky bottom, also I love the lefts and rights that breaks in the middle of the beach.”
The tour will be officially launched with welcoming cocktails Parador Abracadabra Beach on the 11th. The beach will also host the traditional Miss Reef Bikini Open on the Saturday afternoon.
The Reef Classic Latin Pro Argentina is possible thanks to Nokia and Fravega, controlled by the Latin American Surfing Association.
