Portugal’s Nicolau Von Rupp just took out the inaugural edition of the Pawa Tube Fest in Pascuales, Mexico.
“So stoked to win the first ever Pawa Tube Fest Invitational. It was a hard week in strong waves which makes the win taste even better,” commented Nicolau after the final.
The final heat delivered some of the greatest tube rides of the event with Peru’s Gabriel Villaran taking a quick lead by opening up with a 7.83 and a backup 7.0.
Brazilian charger Diego Silva picked off the best left of the heat with a 8.83. Then on the very next set Nathan Hedge and Nic Von Rupp split the peak with Nathan scoring a 7.3 on the right and Nicolau an 8.33 on the left. Nicolau then clinched the win with a final backside tube score of 8.03.
This win shouldn’t come as too much surprise to anyone who’s been following the Portuguese tube hound’s adventures, having demonstrated in a series of web clips from earlier in the year that his ability to negotiate the barrel is up there with the best.
