ENCINITAS, CA – The third stop of the Nixon WTA is set to take place at the Billabong Pro in Mundaka, Euskadi, on October 1-14, 2007.
The Nixon WTA Mundaka presents competitors with the opportunity to win a one-of-a-kind customized Nixon Capital Automatic watch valued at over $10,000 for the Longest Tube surfed in competition. Winners will follow in the footsteps of Manoa Drollet and Kelly Slater who won for the Heaviest Wave in Teahupoo and Highest Heat Score in J-Bay, respectively.
“Nixon has a special connection to the Basque country with its invitational Surf Challenge in San Sebastian each September,” explains Nixon Europe’s Team Manager Jan Holzer. “Now with the WTA in Mundaka, a truly mystical place that turns out one of the longest barrels on the planet, Nixon is giving the surfers something interesting as a sort of high roller side-bet.” With the potential for some of the most exciting tubes on tour, all of which can be viewed via live webcast at billabongpro.com, it is going to get really interesting in Mundaka.
