Matix is proud to announce the addition of Jon Rose to the team. Rose, who hails from the artsy town of Laguna Beach, brings a long and impressive resume with him to Matix. Having graced covers of both Surfer and Surfing Magazine’s, Rosey has focused his energy on non-conventional projects that lay off the beaten path.
In summer of 2002, Rosey got together with a friend, purchased a ’91 Dodge Van and took a road trip across the US and parts of Mexico. Jon spent two months on the road experiencing life and documenting his travels. The fruit of his adventure is expressed in the 2004 self-published Towards Miles, Observations of an American Passage. The book is filled with photographs and journal entries from his journey.
In May of 2006, Rosey got together with a friend once again, outfitted their Honda XR 400’s for surfboards and camping gear and explored Baja’s uncharted coastline by dirt bike…three weeks and 1500 miles later they arrived in Cabo San Lucas. Jon’s photos and narrative were featured on Fuel TV and in three different publications: Surfing Magazine, Outside Magazine and Honda Red Rider Magazine.
Rosey (L), not afraid to get down and dirty! In spring of 2006, Rosey set his sights on the River Severn tidal bore in England. “It was a very surreal experience riding a fresh water wave up a freezing cold river through the English countryside to say the least but it was a very exciting and rewarding experience as well!” Rose said. The results were seen in both Surfer and Surf Europe Magazines.
“Rosey is always working and planning cool projects whether it’s an adventure surf trip, a book idea, photography show or a celebrity poker tournament, he’s always on to something!” said Brandy Faber, Matix Surf Brand Manager. “He’s doing things that most people don’t have the time or balls to just go out and do, I admire him a lot for his adventurous spirit” Faber added. “I’m really stoked to join the Matix family…they are a great brand made up of even greater people. I’ve got some fun projects lined up for ’08 and it feels awesome to have their support and encouragement.” Said Rose.
