For the 13th year running, Surfrider Foundation Europe, organization dedicated to the protection and the enhancement of the ocean, the waves and the coastline, is organizing its beach cleaning operation, the Ocean Initiatives. Last year, nearly 10000 people gathered on the European coastlines and elsewhere…

6 400 000 tons of rubbish are spilled in the ocean every year…

To send a strong signal to our decision-makers, the fact that all of us rally is of uttermost importance.

Organizing a local cleaning operation means taking things into your own hands: gathering your family and friends to clean up the coastline, raising awareness of pollution issues and to take advantage of this event to celebrate the start of Spring at the beach.

Surfrider Foundation Europe wishes to broaden this operation by including the cleaning of large lakes and rivers!

Indeed, continental waters represent important pollution vectors of the beaches and the ocean. It therefore seems necessary to give the beaches, but also the river and lake a sweep!

The organization of a cleaning operation is very simple. The Surfrider Foundation team helps each organizer to coordinate the operation, ensure the logistical support and provides communication and consciousness raising tools.

So … let’s meet on the beaches and banks!
