Current ISA World Champion Julia Christian won the second stage of the 2007 Ladies ALAS Latin and Caribbean Tour, the LatinGirls Pro Perú Cup, that successfully took place in two-feet waves at San Bartolo’s Segundo Muelle beach this weekend.
Christian had a great performance throughout the event, surfing consistent and smooth, doing a wise wave selection she scored the highest combined score at the final with 15.50 – to beat one of the rising stars of the Peruvian surfing circuit: 16-year-old Valeria Solé.
Tied in third place with a great performance on the waves, were Brissa Malaga and Karen Mendiguetti, both from Peru. On the other hand, the great favorite, Analí Gómez was disqualified in the quarter finals by Valeria Solé. Solé was a standout at the minor divisions, winning the Under 18 and Under 16. Repeating her last year LatinGirls Pro Peru result, in which she also won both divisions.
Valeria was followed in the Under 16 category by her fellow country women, Alexia Jerí in second, Nadja de Col in third and Mariangela Zapata in fourth.
In the Under 18s, Brazilian Michele Desmobollons took second and the Peruvians Mirangela Zapata and Monica Queirolo came third and fourth, respectively.
The LatinGirls Pro Perú 2007 L’Oreal Paris Elvive Nutri-gloss Cup was a great succes, a contest that gathered together the best ladies in the Latin American Surfing, in front of a great crowd and a great organization.
