Jeremy Flores Sustains Bad Head Injury In Indonesia

04/07. UPDATE: Jeremy Flores has now officially pulled out of the forthcoming J-Bay Open. “I just did some last MRI and the doctors are saying I won’t be able to surf in the J-Bay event,” said the Frenchman. “I have two fractures in my face and a contusion in my brain.” The 2015 Injury Replacement Alejo Muniz will compete in his place. Story below…

Current No. 10 in the world rankings Jeremy Flores yesterday suffered a head-on collision with the reef, far from help in remote Indonesia. The semi-finalist at last week’s Fiji Pro, who’s been in excellent form this season following an underwhelming last few years, uploaded the above photo to his Instagram account, accompanied by the following message:

“Worst last 24h ever. Hit my head on the reef in the middle of nowhere in Indo, lost my memories for more than an hour…deep cuts all over my head & face… 24h later the helicopter finally came to get me to take me to an international hospital where I just got 2h of surgery on my face…the good news is there is no fracture…I would post a picture of my actual face but it would shock everyone so I won’t lol #nevergiveup”

Yet another member of the world tour injured free-surfing — Pottz won’t be best pleased! — but it sounds like it could have been much worse, and he’ll hopefully be fit in time for J-Bay in July.

Guéris-vite Jéremy!
