Huntington Beach has been announced as the host of the 2006 ISA World Surfing Games. The International Surfing Association (ISA) is the world governing body for the sport of surfing, recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), members of the ISA include the surfing National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of over 50 countries in six continents.
The contest, produced by Surfing America, attracts some of the best riders from around the globe to compete on behalf of their countries. Surfing America is responsible for holding the official USA Championships and for selecting and fielding the official USA Surf Team.
The event will be taking place over the course of nine days with surfing competitions and event festivities. Top surfers from more than 25 nations, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, France, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, South Africa, Tahiti, the UK and USA will represent their countries as they compete for individual and team medals.
