Worldprosurfers.com Goes Live

The world’s elite surfers have launched a website providing a unified voice and a gateway to interact with surfers everywhere.

Worldprosurfers.com is part of the surfers’ union World Professional Surfers (WPS), which was formed in 2001 to represent pro surfers and safeguard their interests both during and after their surfing careers. All surfers on the World Championship Tour are signatories of the organization. The Worldprosurfers.com maxim is to deliver exclusive surfing coverage and innovative content, and to feature the latest news and footage in order to increase the connection between the pros and the surfing public.

After six months in planning, the top 45 have now given the all-clear for their site to go live, unveiling the website amid the booming beachbreaks of Hossegor during the Quiksilver Pro France.

Mick Fanning explains: “It’s all the information from the locations and the surfers themselves, right from the surfers’ mouths.”

While CJ Hobgood, on inviting the world to join them as they chase the world crown, adds: “It will give you exclusive access to us!”

Worldprosurfers.com achieves this with a barrage of unique commentary, interactive interviews, technique tips, 3G mobile downloads, fresh video footage, in-depth features and all the latest news in an innovative magazine format.

The surfers also aim to look beyond surfing events and use the site to bring colour to the empty spaces between the black and white lines of contest heat sheets – with an in-depth look at their lives on the road, at home, and in the water as they pinball around the planet.

A team of the world’s best photographic contributors have also joined the surfers to make worldprosurfers.com a highly visual and truly global entity. Triple World Champ Andy Irons – stoked to have an open channel between the guys on tour and surfers everywhere – says, “It’s worldprosurfers.com … and we look forward to meeting you.”
