Following a longstanding footwear sponsorship with Globe, Australian Dion Agius has committed to the fullest extent by signing a multi-year deal to represent Globe Apparel, Footwear and Accessories.
The Gold Coast (Currumbin, QLD) local is known around the world for his aerial antics. With one trick last year, Dion stole the final clip in Globe’s award winning surf film, Secret Machine, and pocketed $10,000.00 in the Shoot the Moon Video Contest. Then he nailed a “backside double tail grab air reverse” and had the trick, the KerrAgius, named after him as a variation on the Kerrupt Flip.
“We’re very stoked to have Dion running the Globe flag above the ankles now,” said Globe’s Surf Marketing Manager Brian Robbins. “He’s emerged as one of the most dynamic surfers in the world, and the goals he’s laid out for his career are right in line with what we¹re looking for in our younger riders. The kid is psyched!”
Since signing, Dion’s been on the run jumping planes, trains, boats, cabs, buses, rickshaws and every other transportation option available to get from the Goldy to Mexico to California back to the Goldy to New Zealand and more. He’s begun work on a new website that will document all his experiences in video, photos, blogs, etc. The still unnamed site will launch in the very near future on Globe.tv and will be a portal into Dion’s globetrotting life.
“Globe’s been a great sponsor for me over the years,” reflected Dion, “but, I’m really excited to step up to the opportunities they’ve presented and make some noise out there. The projects and trips I’ve done with them are some of the most memorable of my career. Now we’re working on the site and the ideas are flowing. The next few years are going to be amazing.”
