ASP Reveals Landmark Deals with ESPN, YouTube and Facebook

The ASP is pleased to announce media/distribution agreements with ESPN, YouTube and Facebook across the linear broadcast, digital and social media spectrums. All these agreements will start in 2014 to help celebrate and grow the sport of surfing worldwide.

This includes 26 elite tour events across men’s, women’s and big wave arenas in Australia, Brazil, Fiji, Indonesia, Tahiti, USA, France, Portugal, Chile, Peru, South Africa, Spain and Mexico.

In short, this means surf fans will now be able to watch all live webcasts on the one website (to ensure improved quality), on the telly if you live in the States, and should increase the outreach and exposure of surfing worldwide.

Question is if you’re already a surf fan is that really something to get excited about? Probably not. If you’re a world tour pro surfer who makes your living off of media exposure and prize purses then most likely yes. Let us know your thoughts if you think otherwise, we’d be interested to know.

On a side note, the ASP have also got a new logo so if there are any graphic designers out there let the comments fly.
