The 2009 ADH Open (the German student champs) are ready to rumble and organisers have just announced a record breaking amount of 250 surfers in this years competition. Students from all over the country are currently making their way to the south west Atlantic coast, to compete in this years season opening event.

One of the best beachbreaks on the planet, Seignosse, hosts the event running from the 30th of May till the 6th of June. Seeing competitors battling it out in the following divisions: Open Men, Open Women, Longboard Men and Longboard Women. Competitors and fans alike expect a great display of surfing.

Checking the entry registers we can expect nail-biting heats in all divisions. The Open Men division, for example, will see the first face-off of former winners Arthur Wystrychowski (Berlin) and Gerry Schlegel (Munich). But first, both will need to battle the pack of hot young talent thirsty for a first victory. The remaining divisions of Longboard and Open Womens both locked in over 30 competitors each and titles here will be similarly battled out for!

Obviously rumors have spread that besides surfing action there is a lot more worth travelling for to Seignosse these days. Organisers and sponsors spoil competitors and fans with a breathtaking entertainment programme; From live concerts to memorable beach parties, the history of the ADH Open proved the fact that the trip is worth making.

Traditionally fans battle it out in a similar nature on the beach in order to support their university collegues in the water. This year organisers broke a new record for fan and supporter registrations, so everyone is expecting a big show, both in the water and on land. Wavemaps and weather forecasts are looking really exciting for the opening weekend with one metre waves, light offshore winds and 25° heats!!
