Julien LeClerc, from Brittany, France, has finally admitted his recent boat trip to the Mentawais was actually pretty average, despite posting quite good photos on Facebook and calling the trip “fucking awesome” on Instagram.
“We actually only had one really good day of waves,” said LeClerc. “I’ll admit that all the photos I posted from the trip were from that that one good session. They weren’t an accurate representation of the trip as a whole.”
LeClerc went on to say that in fact there were three days where he didn’t even surf, and for the rest of the trip he didn’t surf any waves above three feet.
“The thing is, I had paid a lot of money for the trip and had been bigging it up to my mates before I left,” LeClerc said sheepishly. “It was supposed to be a trip of a lifetime. I didn’t want to let on I wasn’t having a good time.”
Other captions posted by LeClerc included “Small but perfect waves and absolutely no one out.” This was despite the fact that he never surfed without at least six of his own crewmates, and often with crowds of up to 20.
“Yeah it’s true,” he said back in France. “Our boat was full of frothers, and for the whole trip we followed by another boat of Brazilian sponsored kids. There must have been 15 of the fuckers, who all surfed from dawn to dusk.”
LeClerc admitted that he was unsure whether the money paid was worth it, and has deleted the exaggerated photos and outlandish captions. “Look, I did catch those waves, but yeah, it was a real bummer. I probably should have bought a car with the money instead.”
