AI has had a few iconic shots — the win over Slater at Pipe, the shotgun salute at Chopes, the backhand carve at Cloudbreak — but it was this wave after that freefall drop that most people will always associate Andy with. He was thinking of not taking the wave, but when his brother Bruce starting yelling at him to go from the shoulder he could hardly back out, and would later call it the best wave of his career. That’s Shane Dorian swimming in the wave face, by the way, trying to take a photo with his $10 disposable camera!
