The Eddie opening ceremony went down yesterday at Waimea Bay. Jeremy Flores once again represents Europe’s big wave scene as the sole EU invitee, amongst a field of some of the wildest chargers ever known. With the age range stretching from John John (20) to Clyde Aikau (63) the Eddie proves that big wave paddling is a sport for all.

Whether or not the French big wave invitee-only comp, sometimes known as the ‘Freddie’, will go down this winter at Guethary is the other big wait-and-see on the entire surfing world’s lips. The waiting period is apparently open, but closes at lunch for three hours…
