It’s been a big week in the world of big-wave surfing, a very big week indeed.  And nowhere was it ball-shrinkingly bigger than at Praia do Norte, Nazaré, on the Portuguese coast, where it really was enormous –- buttock-clenchingly, sphincter-puckeringly big.

But enough already with the adjectives and adverbs and involuntary pyhsical reactions, how big was it exactly, in feet and inches? Oh I wouldn’t know about that, but it’s several days later and these nipple erections show no signs of abating, and there’s even been talk of the biggest waves ever ridden at Nazaré — which would mean the biggest waves ever ridden, anywhere.
