Dances With Wolves

Afternoon delights in a lunar dreamscape

You’ve seen Dances With Wolves, no? The Oscar-winning Western in which an exquisitely mustachioed Kevin Costner makes friends with White Paws the wolf and a tribe of Sioux Native Americans?

Well this has absolutely nothing to do with that. What the fook does it have to do with, then? Why, with Rhythm ambassadors Nick Pumphrey, Matty Snelling, Pete Harper, Kreepy Kyle Lochhead & Luke Griffin, and a speculative sortie to the island of the wolves, that’s what.

We decided to get off the dusty dirt roads of the north track and have a crack at the afternoon delights, beautifully nestled at the base of the volcano known as Wolf Island.

Nervously pacing the port, praying the winds and tides were perfect, we boarded the water taxi and headed out to test the waters, as they say. There is something romantic about visiting this island and its crystal cylinders, with the giant volcano looming over you, every thing is put into perspective very fast.

With our array of unusual weapons, we were ready for our dance with the wolf. To have this wave alone with just the crew was totally mind blowing and it was easily read on each of our faces.

Left with jelly legs and smiles for miles we knew this session was one we would talk about for years to come. Or at least for the night over the many cold cervezas to celebrate today’s victory over the wild and rugged Wolf Island.
