Alas, it ain’t easy getting hold of pro surfers these days.

They busy. Sure, you can try e-mailing them, direct message on Insty, send a FB hit…

But chances are, what with training, competing, cultivating their own social following of millions, working on boards, saving the planet, getting lunch and just generally being famous, even a media outlet as omnipotent as ours can suffer unrequited correspondence.

So, ever the lateral thinkers, we figured instead of trying to get the pros to cooperate with us by sending some footage so we could make a clip out of their extra curricular activities, why not just get freelance Russian hackers to steal whatever we need direct off their phones and computers?

Vlad and Boris made very short work indeed of Johanne’s passwords (seriously, Jo, ‘surf123’…?). We grabbed what we wanted, and cut it into a little edit called ‘Hacked’. Featuring the Women’s CT star rubbing shoulders with the greatest female surfers on the planet, training at home in Reunion on bike, running, skating, singing in the car and obvs shredding and winning Fiji, we’re so happy with our stolen footage we’ll never try and get a pro surfer to wilfully co-operate with us ever again.
