On his latest search adventure through the British Isles, Oli Adams embarks on a trip up to Scotland’s northern islands with Australian pro Micah Lester looking to score new secret surf spots.
Reflecting on the challenges the region presents and enjoyment that comes from putting in the hard yards, the Cornwall-based surf explorers also contemplate just how much of the British Isles remains to be discovered if only they could access it more easily.
Numbering more than 790 islands and a total of 16,500 km of coastline, Scotland does seem like a mighty good place to start looking for untapped potential. Ask pretty much anyone from the U.K. and they’ll tell you it’s where the very finest wave riding is to be had in Britain.
Unfortunately (for the majority of people at least) Scotland is also a real bummer to get to. Call it a curse and a blessing, because as the boys point out if you turn the problem into the solution the journey is all part of the fun!
