Central Europe is arguably a geographically flawed destination for a surf trip, but that’s exactly where the Basque Country’s Mario Azurza, A.K.A. Ciruelo, has been driving around in his ’97 Opel Corsa during the last few weeks. Armed with nothing but his trusty motorcar, three surfboards, “mucho flow y poco cash,” Ciruelo, who earned his nickname due to his apparent resemblance to a plum tree, has most recently been in Munich, Germany, where he dipped his toes in the frigid waters of the Eisbach for a spot of river surfing. The wave there looks like a right old lark, offering Plum Tree and his mates plenty of opportunities to get fruity. Follow Ciruelo’s journey on his blog here.
