Plastic Bottle Boardies: O'Neill's Ocean Mission
200,000 plastic bottles, taken off the beach and turned into boardshorts
"It's wild to think that almost every single piece of plastic that was ever created by man is still here on this Earth today..."
O'Neill, the brainchild of salt-encrusted Californian icon Jack O'Neill, has always been at the forefront of innovation in the surf industry, developing the first wetsuit, the first leash, the first stitchless boardshort -- and now it's turning its attention to the plastic problem that threatens the giant aquatic playground in which we frolic. Its first Blue Spring Summer collection consists of boardshorts, walkshorts and T-shirts made from approximately 200,000 plastic bottles removed from beaches and shorelines worldwide. Which, PR platitudes aside, is plenty rad, no?
