Episode 1 of Irish slab pioneer Fergal Smith‘s new series ‘Growing’ sees him head up north to his roots in County Mayo where he originally learnt to surf and discovered his ever-growing green finger passion for organic farming and minimising negative impacts on the environment.

Ok, so there’s nearly more tomato picking than there is sexy wave riding, but you will also notice Ferg’s quiver choice has changed up a fair bit of late, with a strong tendency for going the single fin (and other less high-performance type shapes) just to mix things up a bit.

Otherwise just make sure you stay tuned for episode 2, in which Ferg buys a pig (and no that’s not some new environmentally-friendly surfboard model we’re talking about!).
