Joan Duru recently signed for Volcom. Here’s his Stone Your TV clip:
Volcom Europe is proud to announce the arrival of Joan Duru into their surf program, effective immediately. Joan is 20 years old, from Ondres, France, and is known for his explosive and powerful surfing.
“I am proud to join the Volcom family and want to thank everybody at Volcom for their trust. Volcom totally fits my style and I am amped for the future with the brand.” – Joan
“He is certainly the most powerful and complete surfer of the ‘next generation’ in Europe. He rips in all types of surf conditions: he can charge and dominate big surf and heavy barrels, but he’s also really fast in two foot waves mixing airs, slides, and power surfing. We are stoked to have Joan on the team.” – Didier Piter, Volcom Europe Surf Coach
“We are super happy to announce the addition of Joan into our Surf Program, his style is the perfect mix of power and tricks that personifies the Volcom image.” – Simon Young, Volcom Europe Surf Team Manager
Joan began surfing with the encouragement of his father at age 7 in the small village of Ondres, just minutes south of the Capbreton-Hossegor surfing mecca. Since then he has racked up numerous victories and titles, notably the 2006 European Pro Junior champion, and more recently he was crowned 2009 ASP European champion after winning two WQS events in his home country, the Sooruz Lacanau Pro (WQS 4 star) and the Vendee Surf Pro (WQS 6 star). He barely missed qualifying for the WCT this year, and his sights are set for qualifying for the 2011 WCT Dream Tour. Volcom is stoked to support Joan in his future quest for the ASP World Championship Tour title…
