2013 proved a banger of a year for Mimizan’s Vincent Duvignac. Starting out the first half of last year with a handful of admirable performances at some of the big WQS legs (a solid equal 13th in Newcastle which he later backed up with a 9th at the US Open of Surfing), the French ripper had no choice but to keep busy, seeing as he now had a newborn baby boy to feed and still no major sponsor behind him (since Rusty Europe closed up shop a couple years back). Back in Europe Duvi got straight down to the job, winning the Maïder de Biarritz, Nixon Challenge, EuroSurf as well as the new end of year big wave La Nord Challenge.
2014 on the other hand didn’t start out so swell. After an awkward wipeout in Les Landes at the beginning of January, Duvi slipped a disc (which you can see at 1:00) and had to be hospitalised. But word is the powerful rounded natural footer is now back on his feet and pumped to chase more big North Atlantic winter gnarl – the kind you see right here in this latest highlight reel of his. More committed to surfing than ever, expect plenty big things from him on tour in 2014.
