Brad Gerlach was a fixture on the ASP tour in the 1980’s and early 90’s before turning to big waves, webcast commentating and most recently surf coaching. In fact, right now he’s in the process of finishing up a new book that reveals those surfing secrets he’s accumulated over the years. But in true Gerr fashion he decided he needed to show that he could do all of the manoeuvres he writes about in the book himself. Of course that’s when he realised that he hadn’t done an air since he was 15-year-old grommet. So at an age when most guys have turned to fun shapes or logs, a 48 year-old Gerr set himself the task of taking to the sky. No, the results weren’t always pretty but if you are still desperately trying to stomp your first air reverse then there’s surely something you can take away from this.
