21 year old Quik teamrider Andrew Griffin from Newquay head butted the sand bar in Capbreton on Thursday and suffered a broken vertebrae in his back as a result. He’s currently recovering in Bayonne Hospital until it’s OK to travel home, hopefully early next week. I went to see him this morning and he was pretty bored, although can walk about and the doctors reckon he should be OK to get back in the water in a few months time as long as he takes it easy. His French isn’t all that hot so conversation on the ward has been minimal, although he did say there’d been loads of fit nurses checking him out.
