Big Joan Duru ripped his way to win the Lacanau Pro over the weekend, putting him in a decent position for qualifying for... hang on... Merde! What's he gonna qualify for? Will there even be a Top 45 next year?

Anyway, Joan is ripping, he deserves his spot amongst the elite and could well do some serious damage. Imagine that big bushy monobrow flying through the baz at Chopes or Pipe, the lad is very much unafraid. Plus, if the surf went flat and they needed a way to settle the prize money and decided to have a fight, I cant think of anyone that could remove Fred from the ring involuntarily. All the best to him. Meanwhile Marc Lacomare won the Pro Junior in Seignosse the very same day. Both these guys are ripping right now. Stay tuned for more from them in the mag.

"What? It's not a sexy accent? Why you try to diss me now? Everybody know Im sexy, Im French, Im the best, yes!"

The surf has been bonkers around here. Pumping.

I went Bilbao last week and watched the footie, Europa cup or whatever they call it these days, used to be the Inter two-bob. Athletic are like the royalty of Iberian football, it is the city where the English first introduced the sport, from whence it spread about Spain. They only have Basque players, and have never been relegated from La Liga, along with only Barca and Real Madrid. Anyway, they won 3-2 against Tromso of Norway (shit). It also happened to be the Aste Nagusia massive fiesta in Bilbo, zillions of Wasques on the streets getting wasted and throwing shit on the ground. It was awesome.

There were waves at Mundaka saturday. I surfed there and went over the falls first wave and landed on my new board, putting a pressure ding in it that looks like its been shot with a cannonball. Joder! It was really warm, blue water, not your typical Dark Eye experince. Eneko was out there got some good uns, as did Iker Fuentes.

Back in Las Landas sunday for the day of days. The fucker stayed offshore all day! As if that ever happens! Waves were unbelievable, 6ft, offshore, blue. Gosh it was good.

In the words of Donna Summer, it's happening all over again! Looks like more of the same shit this week and le weekend, pumping north swell.

In other news, did anyone see Who Do You Think You Are last night? With Kim Cattral, the cougar from Sex and the City. She was horrified by the moral outrage that her grandad caused when he... left his wife. It was almost as if she's never heard of anything so morally abhorrent before as a husband leaving his wife. Weird, I thought she was an actress from Holywood, you know the place where famous directors marry their own step-children and actors give gerbils marching powder and stick em up their bums...
